Empowering Adult Learners and Educators through AI: A Capacity-Building Initiative
The rapid development and diffusion of artificial intelligence, and in particular generative AI, is transforming workplaces, learning environments, and professional practices across Europe. While AI offers significant opportunities for innovation, productivity, and lifelong learning, many adult learners and educators still lack the skills, pedagogical frameworks, and confidence needed to use these technologies effectively and responsibly. This skills gap is particularly evident in non-formal adult education and professional training contexts.
LEAD-AI addresses this challenge by developing a comprehensive capacity-building programme aimed at strengthening AI literacy and digital competences among adult learners and educators. The project focuses on the design of tailored pedagogical methodologies, practical AI training content, and an AI-enhanced e-learning platform adapted to adult education and professional development needs. By combining hands-on learning, ethical and human-centred approaches to AI, and flexible learning pathways, LEAD-AI supports inclusive, accessible, and future-oriented adult education across Europe.
The project brings together a multidisciplinary European partnership combining expertise in adult education, artificial intelligence, digital learning design, research, and dissemination including haikara (France, project coordinator), Halmstad University (Sweden), ESCP Business School (Germany) and Europroject Ltd. (Bulgaria).
Among the project results will be developed a Train-the-Trainer methodology and an open-access digital learning platform that will enable learners and educators to apply AI tools in real-world professional contexts, while fostering critical thinking, trust, and responsible use of AI technologies.
Europroject has supported the successful setup of the project and is responsible for communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities, ensuring visibility of project results, and long-term uptake of outcomes by relevant stakeholders.
